100 Top Horror Films; An Unbiased View (Right!)

When it comes to starting a list of the 100 Top Horror Films, I realize I'm probably going to be yelled at! Everybody has their favorites and I'm no exception. I welcome any comments telling me "I'm out of my mind", "how come you skipped that particular movie, buddy", and "you are a complete moron"!

I'm a big fan of Zombie movies! I like the usual storyline: A natural catastrophie happens/ chemical spill/ radiation drift and suddenly, your Uncle Ed is out of the casket and shuffling around with a raging hunger! No sooner then you can say Billie Bob, a group of rednecks are holed up at the local gasmart, blasting the heck out of them with shotguns and rifles. You can't get better target practice then a moving target! Here's ten movies that get my vote:

Night Of The Living Dead 68' Dawn Of The Dead 79'
Day Of The Dead 85' Land Of The Dead 05'
The Return Of The Living Dead 85' Return Of The Living Dead Two 88'
Return Of The Living Dead Three 93' Shaun Of The Dead 04
Night Of The Comet 84' Re-Animator 85'

The next selection for the 100 Top Horror Films list would have to include vampires. Anybody remember those vampire movies from the 70's with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing? Remember the vampire babes that hung around Dracula's crypt? They'd wear these white nightgowns that pushed their breasts up and were low cut. The guy that was hunting Dracula would get intercepted by these vampire honeys and get drained dry! I remember the guy would be afraid of them. He'd try to get away! Why!!? I would run right to them! Please suck my blood, I'd say! Take me, I'm yours! Beat me, bite me, hurt me, make me feel cheap! Here's my ten picks:

Horror Of Dracula (1958) Brides Of Dracula (1960)
Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972) (Frank Langella) Dracula 79'
The Hunger 83' Lifeforce 85'
Fright Night 85' Bram Stokers Dracula (1992)
Interview With The Vampire 94' From Dusk To Dawn 96'

Who can forget the Full Moon Films like PuppetMaster and Trancers?!! These movies are horror gems with original stories and ideas, a perfect addition to the 100 Top Horror Films list! How about those horror movies from Universal, also known as the Classic Era. These movies made stars out of Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney, Boris Karloff and Claude Rains. Who would remember names like Bela, Lon, Boris, and Claude otherwise? What kind of mother names her kid Bela?!? We think Bela, Lon, and Boris would flip if they knew that companies now make Classic Era Action Figures in their image!

The Hunchback Of Notre Dame 23' Phantom Of The Opera 25'
Dracula 31' Frankenstein 31'
Murders In The Rue Morgue 32' The Mummy 32'
The Invisible Man 33' The Black Cat 34'
The Raven 35' The Bride Of Frankenstein 35'
Son Of Frankenstein 39' The Mummy's Hand 40'

The Mummy's Curse 44' Creature From The Black Lagoon 54'

Last, but not least: the final thirty of the 100 Top Horror Films:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 74 The Fog 80'
The Thing 82' Psycho 60'
The Evil Dead 83' Evil Dead 2 87'
A Nightmare On Elm Street 84' Friday The 13th 80' (Die Kevin Bacon, Die!)
Friday The 13th Part Two 81' Halloween 78'
Halloween 2, 81' Ghost Ship 02'
Carrie 76' The Exorcist 73'
Rabid 77' Ghost Story 81'
Phantasm 79' The Shining 80'
The Fly 58' The Fly 86'
Visions Of Suffering 06' To The Devil A Daughter 76'
Audrey Rose 77' The House By The Cemetery 84'
Saw 04' White Zombie 32'
The Amityville Horror 79' The Omen 76'

I have to give an honorable mention to this last one to complete my 100 Top Horror Films list, but it really belongs in a science fiction fantasy horror catagory. That movie is Alien 79'. I can't think of anything more horrifying then a huge-toothed bug looking thing that has acid for blood!
