2001 Maniacs might make you think twice about going to a barbecue! This is one of the sickest, twisted tales I've seen in horror celluloid for a long time. A bunch of fun loving college students on spring break get detoured to Pleasant Valley where they find out that they are the guests of honor! They decide to stay for the annual barbecue, the comely southern wenches, and the booze despite the redneck southern ways of the people. They were headed to Florida, but the southern folk sweet talked them into staying. Things start to go wrong as the students start to disappear one after one. As they struggle to find out where their friends have gone, they find out that time and good tidings are running out! This movie is as funny as it is menacing! Highly recommended! P.S. Look for Giuseppe Andrews (Cabin Fever) as Harper Alexander in this movie. He plays a really weird hick.
