Banned Horror Films: Damn You, Rob Zombie!
House Of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects are all about the Firefly family, a sick, twisted, sadistic, murdering bunch of Godless white trash. In the first movie, 1000 Corpses, a slightly weird clown, Captain Spaulding is introduced to viewers as an owner of this gas station/bizarre shop of oddities and murder ride that honors evil serial killers. Whew! Later on, Capt. plays a bigger part when you find out that he is the father of the evil Firefly clan. The good Capt. directs four teens that are road tripping to check out the Dr. Satan legend which put them in the vicinity of the Firefly house. A blown tire keeps them there and the sick horror starts. At this point, the viewer is introduced to Baby(a cute blonde with a heart of stone), Otis(sadistic murderer), Tiny(a burned giant), and Mother Firefly(dotes on Baby when not killing). When the killing starts, that's when the thought crosses your mind that these should be banned horror films...almost! Director Rob Zombie starts pummeling you with images and doesn't let up for a second. We have to give the guy kudos. He can really make horror films. There's one part that sent me over the edge, and that's when Baby chases down an escaping girl, straddles her and drives a knife in her chest! If we had a shotgun we would've stuck it in Baby's pretty little mouth and blown the back of her skull off, just to cleanse the world of this evil. We really wanted to see every one of the Firefly clan die, die, die! Makes a guy wishes he would've stuck with watching the Powerpuff Girls! We won't say too much more out of respect for you if you haven't seen the movies. The first movie centers on the Firefly crimes and The Devil's Rejects centers on more sickness and a huge manhunt for them by the cops. Watch Sheriff Rydell lose his mind and go over the line from good guy to personal executioner. Dear God, what a pair of movies!! We'll leave it to you if you think these movies should be banned horror films; if you want them in your house! We promise you will moved, tormented, and disgusted by them in some way, shape, or fashion. Really, that's the best that we can ask from the horror genre, true? Oh, by the way, we recommend The Devil's Rejects soundtrack! It's full of classic rock that best portrays the freedom of the road and other escape themes.
