Blacula Trailer
In 1780, Mamuwalde is on a mission with his pretty wife to meet Count Dracula in Transylvania. The purpose of the trip is to get support for Mamuwalde’s people, culture, and elimination of the slave trade, which the Count is playing a part in. Count Dracula has other plans! He attacks Mamuwalde, turns him into a bloodsucker and seals him in a coffin for all time. The Count gives him the name of “Blacula” in dramatic fashion. Then he proceeds to kill his wife. Blacula turns up in 1970's LA courtesy of two gay interior decorators who want to sell his coffin. One of them makes a mistake and opens it! Blastula drains both of them dryer then a corn husk. The best thing about this film is the really outdated lingo from the 70's that I'm glad is dead, like "dig", "solid", "jive", along with words the black characters were saying to each other like "boy"! It had some seriously funny dialog I didn't expect when the black funeral director, after answering Dr. Thomas's intensive questioning about one of the gay victims says, "That's the rudest nigger...!" to Dr. Thomas's departing back. Corny! The clothing was typical 1970's fare, with flowing kaftans, beads, and purple cords. Anyway, back to the story...Blacula is awake and hungry in LA and soon finds Tina, a woman that looks exactly like his beloved wife Luva that died almost 200 years ago. He definitely wants her by his side. Since Dr. Thomas and his woman Michelle are good friends of Tina; they are sucked into the world of blood-drinkers. The film has some great actors in it. The classic William Marshall played Mamuwalde. Thalmus Rasulala played Dr. Thomas. You'll even see Elisha Cook Jr. as a coroner hack! All in all, this is an entertaining "blaxploitation" film with a horror twist! I recommend it for a heaping helping dose of cheese!
