This Hammer gem is based on the real life story of Countess Erzsébet Báthory, a serial killer who lived during the 1600's in what is now modern day Slovakia. The things attributed to her and her associates were: severe beatings, burning and mutilations, particularly of the genitalia, biting the meat off female faces, exposure to the elements until dead, and starvation. She was a Countess, with lands, a castle, and money. Her victims were young girls and women. The question of weather she was a sexual deviant has come up. Was she? If one looks at the burning of female genitalia, it's possible that something sexual happened before the torture. Anyway, the lovely Ingrid Pitt stars as the Countess who needs the blood of the countless young maids who live at her estate to keep her young, bouncy, and horny! Let the slaughter begin!
