With Halloween 6, we find that the series gets even more befuddled with Michael Myers being part of a strange cult that originally whispered to him as a child, compelling him to kill his sister. It adds nothing to the series. Indeed, later on in the movie, Myers betrays a bunch of the cult members who are genetics specialists (yes, even more confusing; throw enough crap at the wall and perhaps some will stick?), and in a pretty cool scene under flickering fluorescent lights you see him casually hack all of the doctors to pieces with a long blade. To tie the last movie in with this one, Jamie is all grown up and running once again with her brand new baby, a baby Myers and the cult wants. Myers takes Jamie out like nobody’s business, impaling her on a piece of what looks like farm machinery. Nice.

Tommy Doyle, the kid from the first film that Laurie Strode was babysitting the night evil came home, is the hero in this one, finding Jamie’s hidden baby and keeping it out of the cult and Myers’s hands. Meanwhile, as Myers hunts for the infant, he takes the time to murder the entire Strode family who’s now living in Myers’s old house. John Strode is the brother of Laurie’s dad from the first film and Laurie’s Uncle. The house never could sell, so they moved in. Whew! You could see that they tried to steer this one back into the first storyline, but it’s kind of hard once disengaged. They would’ve been better remaking the first film like Rob Zombie is right now! This was Donald Pleasence’s last role as Dr. Loomis, as he passed away after this film and indeed, the film is dedicated to him.
