Prepare to root for Hannibal Lecter in this sequel to Silence Of The Lambs! If you've seen The Silence Of The Lambs, forget about comparing that movie to this one. Ridley Scott does great justice to this movie so well that it stands alone even if you haven't seen Lambs. This is a movie about cat and mouse, but at first, you wonder if Lecter is doing the hunting or being hunted. Hannibal is the anti-hero whose identity is found out by a police officer in Italy (where Lecter is living) that's seeking a huge reward for turning him in. The FBI, hence Agent Starling, gets involved after they find out the officer has been viewing FBI pages on their official website. Starling has been pulled from duty while the Feds investigate a fish market shootout while at the same time coming down hard on Starling for her role in that. Lecter won't let Agent Starling rest; he keeps involving himself in her life while at the same time evading a rich victim that he carved up from earlier years that survived Lecter and wants sweet revenge. As his henchmen hunt Lecter, he goes to the USA to put his sick plans in action and taunt Agent Starling about her employers, the FBI. This film is more poetic, definitely operatic, focusing on the love (or is it obsession) that Lecter has for Clarice Starling?
