Freaked Out Horror Clown PsychotherapyWe know a guy we used to work with and he and his brother got smashed at this festival and actually attacked this clown because they have this Coulrophobia. They are really bothered by them. They started getting physical with this clown; beat on him a little, and ran like hell. True story.
The clown industry doesn't deserve this, but consider this: Chicago serial murderer John Wayne Gacy, who was convicted of 33 murders and put to death about twelve years ago, also posed as the clown "Pogo", visiting sick children in hospitals around Chicago. Every kid in the Midwest knows that story. No wonder clowns get a bad rap.
Now, the horror movie industry picked up on this phobia and are creating movies that play off this fear. Horror Stew's favorite scary horror clown is the Poltergeist(1982) clown that attacks the son, Robbie, under the bed! Doesn't do much for the love of clowns does it?
How about that horror clown "Pennywise" from the Stephen King thriller "IT"? The thing lived in the sewers and portrayed itself as a clown to the kids in that book and movie. Nice.
A very popular clown is "Captain Spaulding" of House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects! He's the proprietor and tour guide of the Museum of Monsters and Madmen and has a murder ride that's famous. What a sicko!
Then there's the movie, Killer Klowns From Outer Space! These clowns are aliens that scare the crap out of people in this town.
We know there's many more movies out there with clowns in them. We also feel that there are tons of people with scary clown experiences that need to be brought out into the open! Horror Stew wants to address these deep seated issues by possibly starting a forum with horror clown phobia being a definite category as well as horror movies, books, or any horror related things. We'll be looking for some cool moderators that are horror savvy and fun. We will also be having some contests, with fun prizes! Anyway, we are getting juiced up about the possibilities!
