True Houses Of Horror

In 1892, Lizzie Borden took an axe and chopped Abby Borden's head more then a dozen times and then did the same to her father, Andrew Borden. Or did she!?!? It was a sensational murder with a huge trial. A good book that details this incident (with good pictures) and trial is called "Forty Wacks" by David Kent.

In 1957's Plainfield, WI, Ed Gein's run down farmhouse was found to be a virtual butchering ground for fresh victims and corpses. Ed was a true sicko who made lampshades out of human skin, as well as furniture out of their bones! He'd cut out the genital areas of corpses and wear them around, among other, more disgusting rituals ever carried out in the Midwest. Ed's house was one of the major houses of horror of all time. I recommend Harold Schechter's book, "Deviant". This book covers all aspects of Ed Gein's brutality and warped mind.

Another House Of Horror was the house at 112 Ocean Avenue in Long Island, NY. A true crime was committed by Ronald DeFeo Jr. in 1974. He murdered his entire family, siblings and parents. The house gained even greater notoriety when George and Kathy Lutz purchased the place in 1976, then claimed the house was haunted, and demons ran them out. Jay Anson wrote the best-selling book, "The Amityville Horror", and the rest is history. Not really....the question remains today, did the hauntings really happen or were they a colossal hoax??! Read the book by Jay Anson and decide for yourself!

From 1978-1991 Jeff Dahmer murdered, cannibalized, and sexually molested 17 men. He would drug then cut up the victims, boil their skulls, sometime drill their skulls while they were alive and inject acid in the brain then perform sex acts on them. Dahmer's houses of horror was his apartment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was murdered in prison in 1994. It's hard to decide who was worse, Jeff Dahmer or Ed Gein. A must see is the DVD, "The Serial Killers" which includes documentary on Dahmer plus other notorious killers. It is a little high priced at $35.99 but well worth it because it's a three disc set!
