Jaws, they say, started the “summer blockbuster” tradition and a young director named Steven Spielberg made it happen. The movie is based on the best selling novel by Peter Benchley who also worked on the screenplay, naturally. The film has three acting greats that gave the film a lot of heart: Roy Scheider as Police Chief Brody, Robert Shaw as the crusty Captain Quint, and Richard Dreyfuss as the young marine biologist Matt Hooper.

The small town of Amity starts to get shark attacks around the start of their busy tourist season during the fourth of July. A girl gets killed while skinny-dipping, but Mayor Vaughn and his town council chums want it all hushed up and get really upset with Chief Brody for wanting to close the beaches. Everything gets back to normal until a small boy gets ate! The town goes berserk with every Tom, Dick, and Harry going out to Amity harbor to try and catch and kill the shark. When they catch one, everybody assumes it’s the shark that’s killed the two victims. Matt Hooper, the young biologist, shows up to inform them that, no, this isn’t the shark, but let’s cut it open and check its stomach just to be sure. The Mayor nixes this idea, preferring to rest in his delusional state of mind that everything is peachy keen! Then the tough as nails, belligerent, arrogant, but smart Captain Quint makes the city an offer: $10,000.00 to get the shark for them. The city blows him off, but Chief Brody makes the Mayor take him up on the offer. Something’s got to be done! Chief Brody, who can barely eat or sleep because of all this, and Biologist Matt Hooper sign on with Quint as able hands to hunt down the shark. As they trio head out for the hunt, they have a lot of differences and tension between them, but when the shark shows up looking for a quick meal while shredding Quint’s boat, The Orca, the guys come together in their time of need to get the job done! An excellent film!

	After a rough day for Chief Brody, Matt Hooper arrives to suggest they cut the shark open and see what it ate.
When Brody and Hooper find out that shark wasn't the one, they go out on Hooper's boat and find a local fisherman's dead body along with his boat.
