Little Shop Of Horrors

I watched Little Shop Of Horrors recently, and what a joyride it was! The 1986 gem starred Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, Vincent Gardenia, Steve Martin, John Candy, Bill Murray, and Jim Belushi among others, making it an all star comedy cast! It was directed by the wonderful Muppets guy, Frank Oz. The film is a musical and the menace is the plant, Audrey II, which came from outer space on a mission to take over the earth through the process of diabolical reproducing. It doesn't like water, minerals, or plant food; it likes human blood!

Run Down Flower Shop

The three muses tell what happen each step of the way in the Little Shop Of Horrors, basically through singing and harmonizing with plenty of wardrobe changes to match certain scenes.

The movie centers around a failing flower shop that is run by Mr. Mushnik, and two employees, Seymour and Audrey. Business is terrible. The shop is located in skid row, where drunken bums lay in the street and trash is everywhere. The hope of Seymour and Audrey is that they'll get out of that hellhole someday.

Fortunes start to change for the shop when Seymour brings home this plant he picked up from a Chinese shopkeeper during a full eclipse. Audrey and Seymour convince Mr. Mushnik to put it in the window as a new attraction. The minute they do, customers start pouring in and buying flowers like crazy!

Seymour buys the amazing and unique plant, and then takes it back to the little shop of horrors.

The plant starts to wither away until Seymour finds out that what it really wants to eat is blood!

Meanwhile, as Seymour stabs each and every one of his finger-tips to feed Audrey II, his co-worker Audrey continues to date an abusive, gas and nitrous inhaling dentist named Orin Scrivello, DDS! Steve Martin played this guy to the hilt with devilish delight!

The Sadistic Dentist

Audrey II goads Seymour to get him some fresh meat after they both witness the dentist hitting Audrey in her apartment. Seymour moves to take him out and eventually chops him up with an axe and feeds him to the plant.

Seymour wins Audrey's heart after Orin Scrivello, DDS "disappears" mysteriously. The only problem is that Mr. Mushnik, thinking that Seymour actually killed Orin, witnesses Seymour chopping up his body outside the little shop of horrors, and thinks the worst but......

......after pulling a gun on Seymour and threatening to run him out of town, gets eaten for his trouble by a constantly hungry Audrey II!

Audrey II starts to make good on his promises to Seymour that he'll be rich and have everything he wants in life (as long as he keeps feeding him), but Seymour's life is spiraling out of control.

Audrey II is getting so desperate, he tricks Audrey into coming over to the Little Shop Of Horrors late at night so he can eat her!

Seymour arrives in time to save Audrey but it's all out war with the plant, which destroys the little shop of horrors, reveals that it is spawning half a dozen smaller pods on its branches and tells Seymour that he's from outer space! Seymour, after being buried under rubble, fries Audrey II with a frayed electrical cord.

Audrey and Seymour finally get what they've both been yearning for, a nice home where things are green, but something is growing in their garden....
