Trailer Coming Soon!
I recently got a chance to watch “Lost Boys: The Tribe” and was surprised at how the spirit, mood, and pervasive creepiness of vampires haunting a sea-side community was captured compared to the original 1987 “The Lost Boys”. I have to be honest in saying that director P.J. Pesce didn’t direct an original film with “Lost Boys The Tribe”. He repeated the original formula. That’s the sucky part. He was smart enough to bring back the totally focused vampire comic loving, vampire slaying Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman), who strangely enough sounds like he’s spent the last twenty years smoking unfiltered Pall-Mall cigarettes. Older, wearier, but prepared, Frog lives in a house on wheels with plenty of hanging garlic, crosses, and, as a personal armory inside the trailer; a vampire slaying kit full of goodies designed to take out Luna Bay’s bloodsuckers. Unfortunately, his brother, Alan Frog, is mentioned as dying at the hands of vampires throughout the movie and Jamison Newlander, the actor that portrayed him, is mentioned in the credits. You see just exactly how he died in the end credits and briefly in the two alternate endings. You’ll also see Corey Haim from the original make an appearance in the alternate endings. Man, he looked rough!
This movie should’ve been focused on the two Corey’s teaming up and kicking some undead azz! Angus Sutherland (half-brother to Kiefer) plays the master vampire in this film; an undead with a bitchin’ Triumph motorcycle and a flask full of blood tucked in his shirt.
The story is as simple as the first one. Two young adults arrive at their Aunt’s house in Luna Bay, practically penniless, and looking to build a life. Their parents are dead. Chris, an ex-surfer, and his sister Nicole just want to fit in and find themselves pursued by Shane (Sutherland), also an ex-surfer. Nicole gets tricked into drinking the blood from Shane’s flask, turns into a Halfling, and Chris has to save his sister from feeding for the first time and sealing her fate. He can’t do it without the bizarre Edgar Frog. The make-up is good in this film and time-lined well with the original film’s make-up as this particular breed of vampires continues in Luna Bay. It’s like they never left or got wiped out. Look for a short appearance by make-up master Tom Savini as a blood sucking owner of some fine real estate. There’s lots of T & A, blood, and attitude in Lost Boys The Tribe. I’d say give it a shot and try not to remember the original film too much while watching this one! Tom Savini's vampire character doesn't like trashy people on his upscale beach.
He gets shredded by the visitors who wind up revealing themselves as vampires!
Nicole takes a deep swig from Shane's flask. What a mistake!
Meanwhile, Chris has his own problems with a surfer-groupie babe who wants to ball, bite, and suck Chris's blood. He takes her out with some antlers hanging on the wall.
Edgar Frog's driveway sign is pretty clear cut for any visitor.
Another ex-surfer turned vampire, and an enemy of Chris from his past.
Edgar Frog, "Who ordered the stakes?" LOL!
