In The Ghost Of Frankenstein, the action takes place where Son Of Frankenstein ended. Angry villagers want to blow up Frankenstein's castle because they feel it's like a wet blanket over their local economy. They also feel like their town is cursed. While blowing it up, the explosions reveal that the monster is alive, even completely buried in a sulfur pit! Ygor's alive too and takes the monster out of there as quick as possible. The monster is weak and needs a jolt of lightening, though, and Ygor feels the only chance he has is to get him to the only sane Frankenstein in the family, Ludwig. Ygor gets him there and blackmails Ludwig to fix the monster or face the revelation to the town of the things his father did, namely creating a monster out of dead parts. Ludwig wants to chop the creature up into little parts to destroy him but a nocturnal visit from his dead father convinces him to preserve the monster. The idea from his father is to get a new, healthy brain and make the monster whole again. Ygor, however, has other, more devious plans.......
