The Mummys Ghost Trailer
The Mummys Ghost is a far better effort then the previous movie, The Mummy's Tomb (1942) because of the better story line, and John Carradine as the new priest, Yousef Bey. He always does good horror, in my opinion. The only thing really getting old in these succession of Universal Mummy movies is the "Tanna leaf" scenario. I mean, I started to feel sorry for the mummy in this one. The Tanna leaves keep him alive and mobile, so anytime anybody brews some of the stuff, the poor mummy shambles off after the drink. He can't help it! On top of that, he's got a bum leg and a screwed up arm! One can almost hear him thinking, "Scu-rew this....I want to go back to my sarcophagus!" The most high priest Andoheb, played once again by an even shakier George Zucco, is apparently alive again, and this after being shot in Hand (1940), and dying after giving the other priest his orders in Tomb (1942)! But, this is still a Universal classic and that's good enough for me, and fun to watch. In this one, Yousef Bey is instructed by Andoheb to go to the States and bring back not only the Princess Ananka's mummy, but Kharis as well, and return them to their tomb where they can rest in piece. As usual, the priest is weak and fails in his mission because of his lust for the girl that holds the soul of the reincarnated Ananka! Things start to unravel quickly after that, but not to worry; another mummy installment came along after this one!
