The Wolf Man is a wonderful old movie with a great story for it's time (1941)! One of the most interesting things to me is the fact that most of the movie was shot on a set and that meant elaborate designs which the movie delivered. We have to give all the credit to Universal Studios for these classic horror movies. The movie has Larry Talbot coming home after his many travels to settle down to run his father's estate because his older brother got killed. While working in the observatory, he sees Gwen (Evelyn Ankers) through the scope and spends time trying to get to know her. He wins her over a little and goes with her to a gypsy camp where Gwen's friend, Jenny, gets her fortune told by Bela (Lugosi) to her everlasting horror because Bela sees the wolf bane she brought with her and the mark on her hand, transforms into the werewolf he is, and rips her throat out. Talbot then beats the beast to death with his silver cane, but not before being bitten. Soon, the local gravedigger is dead too, with beastly tooth marks on his throat. Everybody that knows Larry, from the doctor to the local cop (Bellamy) and Larry's own father (Claude Rains) has him believing that he's not a werewolf; it's in his mind. Of course, they don't believe in werewolves but for Larry Talbot, things aren't quite adding up for him because he knows he's not nuts........
