Comments On Poe...

by Palle Tybjerg
(Denmark)

I think E.A.Poe died because he drank to much.
He was beaten up that election night he died and
that did not make his condition better.
To bad as he was about to be real famous because
of A.Lupin known from the murders in Rue Morgue.
Also he died of sorrow because of his life as such.

Do some research...
by: Christine (Belgium)

Both of you are wrong..

If you would have done ANY research, you would have known that he joined the Sons of temperance at the beginning of 1849.
This means that he STOPPED drinking. Even when hospitalized after that fatal night, he refused to drink a drip of alcohol to relieve his pain.

Untill now, no one is exactley sure what happened on the night he was found unconscious. The official cause of death was that he died of "congestion of the brain".

We will never know for sure what happened to him.
In my opinion, the fact that his death is a mistery and people are still trying to find out what happened, is exactly what he would have wanted.

Next time, check reliable sources and don't make wild accusations based on wikipedia or yahoo answers.

Counter-comment on Poe....
by: Anonymous

And what source did you get it from? What empirical evidence do you have to back up these comments? Poe didn't die from drink. Forensic evidence had suggested otherwise. He died from rabies due to a scratch from one of his cats. He'd been known to take in strays in his home. Sure, there's no doubt he's alcoholic, no evidence had shown he died from drinking too much alcoholic beverages.
