Horror Of Dracula - absolutely one of the best.

I don't want to remember how long ago it was that I first feasted my eyes on this classic of classics. Horror Of Dracula was my introduction to Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and dear old Hammer - and what an introduction it was!
I saw the movie in a fleapit re-run theater and right from the titles it had me transfixed and deliciously terrified. I think I was age fifteen or sixteen and had only seen a handful of 'horror' films before this masterpiece so I was completely unprepared.
The movie has plenty of rich red blood, commonplace with todays gore flicks but Horror Of Dracula really pushed the envelope for its era. And those vampiresses - they had me terrified and aroused at the same time, very confusing at such a tender age. And the ending is something else!
From then onwards Hammer films were a must see for me for many years. I lapped them all up, the good, the bad and the ugly. Unfortunately as the years went by Hammer's output lent mainly toward the bad and ugly, but Horror Of Dracula was absolutely one of the best horror films, Hammer or otherwise.
