My true view of the man's life: By Leah Smith

I think that Edgar Allan Poe was a very mysterious man. Over all he was a very normal guy but with a lot of tragic incidences in his life. His parents died when he was only three years old and then he had to go over to London and get split away from his family with the Allan’s. And when he came back he had a gambling problem. Poe was a very strong person emotionally. He had gotten married to his cousin when she was only thirteen years old and she died. Then he got very depressed and turned to alcohol. A year later he was to be married for the second time to his high school sweetheart from Richmond Virginia. So to get to the point I don’t think that Poe was murdered when he was found in the street. I think that he was roaming around drunk thinking about all of his success that was in his life and how he did this with all the things that had happened to him and how he is sorrowing over all of the tragic things in his life. I think that Poe was too strong of a person to have been killed. I think that he just had a little too much to drink and it was his time to go. He sure did get his message out to the world; even today we are still researching his life and teaching about him. So yes, I think that he was a very good person in general. I think that the poem “The Raven” is symbolizing what was really going on in his head that he was trapped and there was a raven (the devil) pressuring him to kill him self for all the things that had happened to him in his life and constantly reminding him about them "nevermore".
