Reflection of the times?

It's funny how many people this movie scared the crap out of back when it was released but today it's just another spooky movie with slime. It certainly seems that the terror of this film lies not in the special effects but in the way it brings to life all the horrors we once learned to fear in church. Maybe now, in a time where faith seems less common but, without a doubt, more controversial people don't fear the devil as much as each other. And with today's news dominated by terrorism, serial killers, and child molesters the Devil has a lot more competition than he did back in 1973. Sadly, today's children have learned to be more fearful of the priest than Satan, himself. |
