The Simpsons: Tree House HorrorWe could review the whole dvd here and ruin it for folks. Instead, we will look at one cartoon short from Tree House Horror V called The Shinning which was absolutely hilarious because its a parody of The Shining, one of Horror Stew's favorite movies! The opening scene of "The Shinning" shows the Simpson family car heading up to the Overlook Hotel to be the winter caretakers. Of course, the opening of The Shining movie is famous for that creepy music and helicopter shots of the Torrence family car heading far into the mountains and into desolation and despair.
Another scene from the Simpsons dvd is the famous blood pouring down floor after floor only to gush out of the elevator doors, floating furniture and ruining the carpet.
Here's Marge trying to figure out what the heck is going on with Homer. She finds a big piece of the puzzle in the typewriter and on the wall!
It seems that Mr. Burns took away the cable and beer supply to make sure Homer keeps on top of things all winter. The end result of that has driven Homer crazy and down to the ballroom bar only to find a ghostly Moe telling Homer that if he kills his family, he'll give him a beer.
Tree House Horror had to include this scene of Homer doing the "Here's Johnny!" bit. After he got out of the cooler (with Moe's help) Homer chops through door after door, screwing it up every time before he finally gets to the door where the family is.
Hearing a noise, Homer finds Willie coming to the rescue only to stop him in his tracks with an axe to his back! In other episodes, you'll laugh as you see this gag being repeated.
At the final scene of The Shinning episode in the Tree House Horror dvd, Lisa finds Willie's dropped mini TV. As Homer starts to give her the axe, she turns the tv screen toward him and Homer finds himself calm again. As the family gathers around for some good old evening television, they freeze solid!
The Simpsons DVD provides allot of laughs, inside jokes, and smiles. You're sure to enjoy this one!
